Let's be real, Kids are PICKY. The older my son gets, the pickier he seems to be. Aware more now of tastes and more importantly texture, we're constantly trying to find new foods that peak his interest. And as busy are we are every day, I love finding snacks that he enjoys AND ones that are healthy without tons of added sugars, preservatives, and all the other junk that seems to find its way into our food sources.
I've been having him spend more time in the kitchen with me lately. He loves to feel like he's helping me, and while we cook, we talk about the importance of choosing clean, high quality ingredients. And that making our own meals, allows us full control of what we are putting into our bodies. I want him to appreciate both food and his body as he gets older. I want him to be informed.
When we're not at home cooking our own meals, we're usually on the go. And that means, that sometimes we're out longer than expected and he gets hungry. Rather than hitting up the nearest drive thru, or gas station, I like to keep my bag stocked with some of his, and my favorites. Here's a round up of our top 5 picks!
Simple Mills Pumpkin muffins are a huge hit around here. And with only 8 ingredients, I feel good about his love for them. They're gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. As muffins, they're easy to bag up and take on the road with us. PLUS- they're delicious! I buy the mix online through Thrive Market. Plus with this deal, you can shop without paying the membership fee! major win!

The Epic Venison bars are SO GOOD! Plus they're easy to throw in the car, purse, and diaper bag. With wholesome ingredients and 12 grams of protein, these are high on our list in our house. Along with the pumpkin mix, you can find these insanely cheap at Thrive Market!

I'm a huge fan of RX bars, so you can imagine my excitement when they started making a kids version. They have 3 flavors: Chocolate Chip, Berry Blast, and Apple Cinnamon. They are made with the same great ingredients as a the adult version. I love these because they are a great alternative to the sugar laden granola bars in todays market. I have found these at target and whole foods in the Boise area.

Fruit leather is almost always a hit. I love this brand because its organic, non-GMO, and I can get a huge box of them at Costco. Win, Win! We usually don't have an issue getting Owen to eat pieces of fruit, so these serve more as an emergency snack for him if we get stuck out running errands longer than expected. He's perfectly content snacking on strawberries and apples when we are at home.
Last, but certainly not least, Owen loves these Happy Tot pouches! Getting him to eat vegetables is sometimes a struggle, so I love that these have sweet potatoes and carrots in them! The best part? He thinks he's just eating applesauce! Again, you can find these at Thrive Market!
